The one and only vj Paula on Channel [v]

Channel [V] VJ Paula Malai Ali knows the importance of hard work and luck when it comes to success

After finishing her studies at the age of 18, Paula worked in Singapore at a children’s theatre company before embarking on her hosting duties for an English language game show for Radio Television Brunei. At the age of 21, she moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and immersed herself in theatre productions, where, during one of her stints, the editor of Men’s Review spotted her on stage and chose her to appear on the cover of the magazine.

“The editor saw me when I was acting in Educating Rita and later made me a covergirl for Men’s Review. I must admit that offers just rolled in after the magazine hit the street,” says Paula gratefully. “After that, like they say, it’s history. But not quite,” she carefully adds with soft laughter.

She has subsequently graced the glossy covers of many renowned magazines in Malaysia as well as around the Asian region. Although it was her beauty (she is of Bruneian and English heritage) that got her noticed, she has consciously striven to be known as more than just another pretty face.

While she has been doing television for almost nine years, she has also added another feather to her cap…by hosting a radio show on Red 104.9 for the past year and a half.

Paula was also recently featured on a special episode of Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, celebrating women in their ‘30s Around The World’.

Currently hosting a variety of shows on [V], Paula travels around the world bringing you unforgettable interviews with some of today’s hottest superstars from the music and entertainment world.

Catch VJ Paula on The Ticket, The 10, The US Billboard Countdown, The Rock Show, Video[Scope], Remote Control & The Inter[V]iew. Fans of VJ Paula can write to her at paula@my.channelv.com.
